About the teacherMr. Sam De Carlo
Looking forward to a great 5th grade year! Dearest Brandon Families: Welcome to 5th grade! This is my ninth year at Morris Brandon and twelfth year in this career. During my time here, I have taught both 4th grade (2006-2010) and 5th grade (2010-present). Before coming to APS, I taught 4th grade in Fayette County. After graduating from college, I taught one year of middle school (math, history, and geography) and two years of long-term substitute teaching at the high school level (math). I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Education with an additional major in Social Science and minors in Mathematics and music from Oakland University in Rochester, MI (suburb of Detroit). My academic strengths include math, social studies, writing, language arts, music, and technology I am looking forward to all this year will have to offer! This school year promises to be one of academic growth, challenges, and added responsibilities. I love learning new things and guiding students to learn new things. I strive to be the best at everything I do, and I try to empower my students with that same ethic. I firmly believe that every child can learn. With a positive attitude and diverse learning strategies, every child can succeed and become a life-long learner. I am very excited to learn more about each of you during our journey into educational excellence together. Have a restful summer and I will see you in August! |
Where did you go to school? |
I attended Oakland University just outside of Detroit (Go Grizzlies!). For you sports fanatics, it's in the Horizon League and the current head coach for Georgia Tech's Basketball team got his college career started at Oakland. So did singer Madonna! I have also taken graduate-level music courses at Westminster Choir College (Princeton, NJ) and Indiana University (Bloomington).
I attended Adlai Stevenson High School in Livonia, MI (Go Spartans!). While there, I was a part of many clubs like National Honor Society, Spanish Club, Academic Quiz Bowl, Jazz Band. |
What Are Your Hobbies? |
I love to sleep! During the week, I keep very busy. I like to play tennis with friends, go to the movies, meditate, eat at nice restaurants, and play the piano.
